About the Garden

Set in the mountains around Pu’er in Yunnan, Dong’s gardens sit at around 1,300 metres above sea level, in an area long associated with tea production and the Tea Horse Road. Misty conditions, fertile soils and wide swings between warm days and cool nights help produce teas with notable sweetness and fragrance.

Dong’s gardens rely on natural fertilizers and pest controls, and his teas are similarly forward-thinking. The unusually dark Honey Yellow tea is made using a combination of traditional hand methods and modern equipment, with an emphasis on preserving clarity, sweetness and aroma. Made from rich Yunnan large-leaf material, the tea is finished in the style of a yellow tea, including a gentle wrapped yellowing stage that softens the leaf and brings out its smooth texture, honeyed sweetness and floral character.
