About the Garden

Zhifa’s teas come from the high mountain village of Shiguping, in the Phoenix Mountains of Guangdong, one of the most respected growing areas for Dan Cong oolong. His family’s tea gardens include old tea bushes up to 300 years old, producing teas of exceptional fragrance, depth and character. Cool temperatures and mountain mists contribute to their mystique.

Zhifa has taken over direction of the farm from his parents, continuing a long family tradition of tea making. Techniques passed down through generations give the teas their remarkable balance: complex and layered, but also unusually clear and harmonious. They are expressive when fresh and continue to evolve beautifully with age.

Zhifa’s Dan Congs are among the most distinctive teas in our collection, combining complex aromatics, mineral depth and a refined texture with a long, lingering finish.
